Richard Mosses : ‘men of good fortune’, north kivu, eastern congo, 2011
i read about this the other day. mosse uses colored kodak aerochrome infra red film to highlight the severity (and general “outsider” misunderstanding) of the war-torn landscapes of the congo by capturing them in shades of lavender, crimson and red. in a place plagued by systematic sexual violence, ambushes and bloody massacres masse’s film color choice really gives a new definition to viewing the world through “rose colored” glasses, doesn’t it?
my favorite photographers.
